The latest round of CRA’s 2020 Siren Awards has been taken out by JAMES, a creative agency based in Adelaide.

JAMES won Round 3 of the advertising awards for their radio commercial ‘Uncomfortable Cough’, produced for the Primary Health Network, which was designed to shine a light on the importance of immunisation.

The ad was brought to life by JAMES creative director James Rickard and Scott Illingworth of sound studio Seeingsounds, who used dramatic storytelling to share the compelling story. CRA explained that the use of children at the front of the ad to force listeners to take notice.

“I wanted to leverage the universal truth, ‘a child’s safety is paramount’, against the fact adults were failing to get immunised and worse still, were endangering children as a result,” said Rickard.

“I doubt any parent would be able ignore that terrifying cough, and not be moved by it.”

EMOTIVE agency won the campaign category for FOOLPROOF – a series of ads for Sportsbet. Meanwhile SCA won the craft category for work on Beyond Blue ad The Loop.

“Our congratulations go out to the talented winners of Round 3 of the 2020 Siren Awards,” said CRA chief executive Joan Warner.

“We continue to be amazed by the exceptional quality of Siren Awards entrants and this latest round of winners and highly commended applicants truly exemplify creative excellence and showcase the value of effective radio advertising.”

The 2020 Gold Siren winner will be announced in May 2020, with the winner being awarded a trip to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
