Triple M’s Jess Eva admits she’s blown profits from ‘The Block’

Staff Writer

It’s a good thing Jess Eva had a day job before her reality television debut.

The co-host of Triple M Sydney Breakfast has revealed she and partner Norm sank over $200,000 on two swimming pools and various other costly projects and whims after appearing on The Block.

“We bought two above ground pools and we just handed them out to our friends like lollies. They’re $5,000 each, so there’s $10,000.

“We just had friends who had just wanted a pool for ages. An above-ground pool salesman would have thought we were loony,” Eva told her Moonman in the Morning co-hosts.

They also placed a bet on tennis star Maria Sharapova, which cost the couple “thousands”.

“Remember when Ash Barty was starting out on the tennis circuit, and we didn’t know she was going to be a winner and she was playing against Maria Sharapova.

“We put thousands on Maria Sharapova, and it was just when Ash Barty was starting her winnings streak, and I just forgot that Maria was coming back from her drugs ban.”

Their TV show winnings, now losses, totalled $209,000. But all is not lost for the radio personality – shortly after The Block aired she landed the coveted metro Breakfast slot.

Far from just an entertaining reality TV star, Eva is a talented broadcaster in her own right, having spent several years hosting 91.9 Sea FM Breakfast on the Sunshine Coast.

After the departure of Matty Johns in 2018, SCA installed comedian Lawrence Mooney on Triple M Sydney Breakfast, along with The Block fan favourite Eva and anchor Chris Page.
