Mix 102.3’s Jodie and Soda brought a young boy’s dream to life last Friday, helping eight-year-old Alex Tann realise his dream of being a firefighter.

Over the past four weeks Jodie and Soda have been raising awareness for the campaign for Alex, who suffers from brain cancer which has rendered him blind.

Alex was made honorary chief of the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service, and was sent out via police escort to rescue Port Adelaide’s Travis Boak and Adelaide’s Erin Phillips from a “burning building.”

He was given an award for bravery and thanked by South Australian premier Jay Wetherill, lord mayor Martin Haese and more.

In the lead up to the day, network rivalries were put aside as Jodie and Soda did a live simulcast onto FiveAA David and Will’s Breakfast show.

Check out a video compilation from the day below.

Alex is the #BestFirefighter Ever

Thank you, Adelaide. Thank you for your generosity, your cheers, and most of all thank you for saying yes when we asked for your help to make a little boy's dream come true. What an amazing city of beautiful people. ❤️Please continue to support the great work that Childhood Cancer Association do for over 400 families just like Alex's.
