Joe Hildebrand to fill in for Deb Knight on 2GB
Joe Hildebrand has been elevated to Afternoons on Nine Radio’s 2GB as part of the station’s summer lineup.
Hildebrand first joined the station in September following his emotional departure from Channel 10’s morning TV program Studio 10. He took on an hourly slot on John Stanley’s Thursday evening program, however there was immediately speculation the radio network had bigger plans for the commentator.
And now as most radio talent goes on the summer survey break, Hildebrand will fill in for Deb Knight on 2GB for the Afternoons slot.
The Australian this morning speculated Hildebrand would be joined by political provocateur and former chief of staff to Tony Abbott, Peta Credlin. A Nine spokesperson told Radio Today this was incorrect.
The Breakfast slot usually occupied by Ben Fordham will be filled by Chris Smith, who currently hosts 9am to 1pm on weekends. Smith previously hosted Afternoons on 2GB, then dramatically departed broadcaster in 2019, when it was still known as Macquarie Media. He returned this year.
For the week commencing December 28, Breakfast will be hosted by John Stanley, who regularly hosts Nights on 2GB.
As previously reported, Mark Levy will fill in for Ray Hadley, and radio veterans Murray Wilton a d Murray Olds – ‘The Two Murrays’ – are on Weekend Afternoons.
Luke Grant will take over the Drive slot from Jim Wilson, Overnights will be helmed by Clinton Maynard, and Weekend Overnights by Mike Williams.
From 21 December Nights will be hosted by Bill Woods.
How about George Moore? He is the best talent/person on the radio ever, he should have NEVER been let go by 2GB, what a shame, bring him back.
Luke Grant should do Drive permanently. Jim is a lovely person but just doesn’t have the edge it needs.
Michael McLaren should be on Nights.
George Moore would have been over looked because he supports Donald Trump
This line up is better than the normal one with the exception of Michael McLaren.
If Joe takes over from Deb Knight, I’ll be tuning in every day.
I guess George Moore was to much of a threat to reconcider him to fill in for Deb Knight again. Sad to see great talent go begging.
So glad Mark levy is taking over from Hadley . A fresh young intelligent person who does not reflect on himself and his so called past achievements,we may get a pleasing few hours.
great summer line up for 2GB – bring back George – Luke Grant for permanent drive – Sorry Jim – your a lovely bloke but boring – Mark Levy another talent that is overlooked.
I am an avid listener to 2GB. I enjoy almost all of the regular line up and the recently announced Summer line up with only one exception……..the patronising Bill Crews.
Also agree with the comment regarding George Moore. Bring back George
Hi Joe, do you think its time for our Prime Minister to ask the English Prime Minister if he will allow JAMES BOND to come here and help with the Djokovic problem?
Bring back George Moore for “his” old weekend morning show. Whilst sad that the team now lacks Paul B Kidd, George alone is streets ahead of other 2GB on air personalities. With the demise of Chris Smith, there is more need for 2GB management to resolve the impasse with George and get him back on air – asap.
