Ex-Fox FM jock Kel Wolfe on the emotional impact of redundancy

Staff Writer

Southern Cross Austereo announcer Kel Wolfe has opened up about his job loss.

Talking to his co-host Steve Walter The Poser Podcast, Wolfe goes into details about the emotional and psychological impact of redundancy and struggling in such a competitive industry.

“I’ve been in radio for a while now, probably 10 years,” said Wolfe. “It’s the first time I’ve never been in radio. I’m now unemployed because of the coronavirus.

“[SCA] have decided to realign how they broadcast across a weekend.”

Wolfe, a Radio Today Top New Talent alumni from 2015, has been one of the weekend on-air guys at Fox for over two years, as well working throughout SCA as fill-in announcer across the network.

“I was never really good at managing my way through a very cutthroat and competitive industry that radio is. It’s a really bitter pill to swallow.”
