KIIS 101.1 listener scores $100K “life upgrade”

Former Features Editor

25-year-old Melbourne teacher Emilie Downey has been named the winner of the huge competition run by KIIS 101.1 and Chapel Street Precinct.

All it took was being photographed on Chapel Street by a member of the ‘Snap Chap Crew’, and Melbourne locals were on their way to win $100,000 to have “the year of their life on Chapel Street”.

With no limit to the imagination in terms of what the prize entailed, the competition ran for six weeks and attracted 1,200 participants and 271 shortlisted entrants – but only Emilie was named the lucky winner overall.

She has scored herself a rent-free room at The Cullen Hotel for the entire year, as well as all of the groceries she’ll need for the next 12 months, flights for her family over to fly over from WA, dining out at a number of local restaurants any time she wants, and a host of clothing, accessories and homewares from retailers along the precinct.

“I have never won anything like this before, I am so excited!” Emilie said.

You can hear the winner announcement below.

This is the third time KIIS101.1 and Chapel Street Precinct have partnered on a successful campaign, following the popular KIIS the Car earlier this year and the $20K in 20 minutes promotion which rolled out at the end of last year.
