Kim Ledger joins NOVA Entertainment’s ‘Addicted’ podcast

NOVA Entertainment has scored a coup in the latest episode of its podcast series Addicted with Kim Ledger joining NOVA’s Ash Bradnam.

He shares the family’s grief at losing son and brother Heath Ledger to an accidental overdose of prescription drugs in 2008 when the actor was just 28-years-old.

Out of that family tragedy came Kim’s involvement with ScriptWise; a campaign to raise awareness and to establish a prescription register to spare other families the pain his family has experienced.

“There was no sign of an addiction and that’s part of the worry with this.  He’s here one night and then mixes all these other things and he’s not here.

You almost feel guilty, as a parent, that you weren’t there to help him out.  But then, that same tragedy is happening right in lounge-rooms and in bedrooms, right under people’s noses.”

With Bradnam open about his own 15-year battle with addiction, this episode of ‘Addicted’ doesn’t sensationalise the grief of the Ledger family, nor does it flinch from the raw emotion surrounding grief in its many forms.

It also features real-time audio from the Nova Brisbane breakfast show in 2008 when the death of the celebrated actor became known.

Nominated for a Mumbrella Publish Award and also an Australian Commercial Radio Award, Addicted is available for download now at Acast or wherever you get your podcasts.
