Kristie Mercer to audition for ‘The Voice’
Kristie Mercer is looking to use reality TV show The Voice as a leg up for her career as a singer.
The former host of ARN‘s The Thinkergirls took to Instagram to announce that she’s set to feature on the show’s blind auditions this Sunday (May 26).
“I can confirm THIS SUNDAY NIGHT FROM 7PM on @channel9 you’ll see me sing to the back of four oversized spiny chairs in hope of turning one around,” she said.
“But if I’m honest, whether I turn one or zero chairs – I feel like I’ve already won just having the confidence to stand up on that stage.
“As wanky as it sounds, it’s been a hashtag journey to even put myself and my ability out into the world after 10 years of not singing in public.”
According to Kristie’s website, she is currently working on her first EP and is available for bookings.
Radio Today broke the news that Kristie and fellow Thinkergirl Stacy June had been axed from their KIIS FM Nights slot in November of 2017.
They spent almost two years in the slot, and last year spoke out about losing their jobs, calling the decision “100 per cent a gender issue”.
Ah the Thinkergirls broke up. They are no longer together. Go get the reasons why Radio Today…
Best way to bounce back into radio after getting the axe is to do a reality tv show. She’ll be doing breakfast on 2day by the end of the year. Well played.
And yes radio today, where is the scoop on the break up??? Caught napping again.
“100 per cent a gender issue” there’s been quite a few of these at ARN in recent times.
She’ll be on 2DAYFM Breakfast next.
I thought Guy or Delta would have recognised her
