Kyle says he won’t celebrate being #1 FM Breakfast show, because it’s ‘normal, normal, normal’

Co-host of Sydney’s #1 FM Breakfast show, Kyle Sandilands, says he and his team won’t be celebrating today’s win because it’s simply what he requires of his team.

When newsreader Brooklyn Ross announced the ratings on-air this morning, Sandilands said it was “normal, normal, normal”, before hitting out at other shows which, in his view, celebrate too readily.

“Guys, it’s what’s required,” he told his team of being on top of the FM pile. “It’s no celebration. Every other radio station, right, they’re not anywhere near as up in the ratings as we are, but they all go out to lunch. They’ll all be getting blind and eating free and touching each other inappropriately, no doubt. Thats what happens. I never let our staff celebrate, because it is just your normal job and your requirement to be #1,” he said.

He then granted one concession, joking that everyone can go home 10 minutes early today, at 4:50pm.

In today’s ratings, KIIS 106.5 fell 1.5 points in Breakfast to 9.8%, but still managed to beat out all its rivals. The nearest competitor was smooth, which slipped 0.6 points to 7.3%.
