Mooney’s ‘Up The Guts’ gets punted

Triple M Sydney’s Lawrence Mooney could have more time on his hands with Fox Footy cancelling his Friday night live comedy show Up The Guts.

It was launched with much fanfare at the start of the 2019 AFL football season, with a promise to take an irreverent look at the world of Aussie Rules.

Mooney was joined by Nova 100’s Dean Thomas in the late-night show, but it failed to ‘click’ with the audience and Fox Footy has decided not to continue with the comedy experiment.

With the AFL finals season approaching, Fox Footy will replace Up The Guts with extended post-match analysis, which is expected to include more player and coach interviews.

However, it may not be cutting all ties with Mooney with speculation he’ll continue to make appearances on other Fox Footy shows including The Beep Test.
