Ex-AFL champ Luke Hodge joins the team at SEN

Former Assistant Editor

1116 SEN welcomes former AFL champion Luke Hodge to its on-air team, with the two-time Norm Smith Medallist and four-time GF winner to appear on the station twice a week.

Hodge is set to appear on Gerard Whateley’s Whateley each Tuesday, as well as Crunch Time each Saturday, kicking off this weekend (July 4).

He has been keen to move into the media and stay connected to the game since retiring. “When I was living in Melbourne I would always turn to SEN for my footy updates and have remained
an avid listener since moving to Queensland.

“Since retiring I’ve wanted to stay connected to footy and develop my skills in the media. I’ve long admired Gerard – he really knows his stuff so I look forward to learning a lot from him,” added Hodge.

As well as joining as a regular guest on Whateley, Hodge joins long-running Saturday show Crunch Time with Whateley, Andy Maher and Sam Edmund.

Together the trio will cover all the big issues in footy, review the previous two evening’s games and preview the upcoming games across the weekend.

“The magnificent career of Luke Hodge was marked by a rare football intellect, an IQ for the game and how it was to be played, unrivalled on the playing field,” said Gerard Whateley.

“Every Tuesday we’ll have the chance to tap into Luke’s knowledge and experience to make sense of a season without precedent.”
