Mix 102.3 CD Tony Aldridge moves to KIIS 101.1

Former Assistant Editor

ARN has appointed Tony Aldridge as the new content director at KIIS 101.1 Melbourne.

Tony joined ARN in 2018 and has overseen Mix 102.3 and Cruise in Adelaide, presiding over Mix when it hit 20 consecutive #1 surveys in November last year.

That job was preceded by roles at i98FM, Nova 96.9 and Global Radio in London.

He’s been tapped for the struggling KIIS 101.1 and will work alongside KIIS assistant CD Daniel Bozykowski, with focus on both the breakfast show and national drive show.

“I’m delighted to welcome Tony to the role of KIIS 101.1 content director in Melbourne and pleased to be able to make this appointment internally as well,” said ARN national content director Duncan Campbell.

“During his time in Adelaide, Tony’s leadership skills along with his creativity and attention to detail created an environment that brought out the best in our team there. Tony will strengthen the team at KIIS 101.1 and highlights our continued focus on the station.”

ARN will be hoping Tony can replicate his success at Mix over in Melbourne, where KIIS 101.1 fell to 4.8% (-1.2) in Survey #1 this year after an indifferent 2018.

Congratulations! It’s certainly been a diverse fortnight for ARN hiring all these middle aged white men. Can’t wait to find out which man gets hired in Adelaide!

Has DB been pulled from the market?

Frank, again. Are you going to comment on every white man that gets appointed in radio?
Would you prefer it if all white men were prevented from filling vacancies in the industry?

Just appoint whoever is best suited. If that means a white man, fine.

Funny they have promoted from within. I can’t imagine the line was very long to take up that role. The DB effect hasn’t rubbed off on this station, which begs the question. If K&J didn’t come over to Mix and DB was the CD there, how would it be rating? The answer is just like Mix/KIIS in Melbounre. Last!

I work at the sister station but sit at the kiis end of the building. I see the problems first hand. Putting a CD in isn’t going to fix things. The problem isn’t the management. DB and Boz run a tight ship and if it weren’t for them, kiis would be in the sewers. The problem are the shows. The shows and their talent are driving it down. Mainly talent on a certain show demanding the impossible.

Cue next lot of comments.

Who is MR that the question on Melbourne’s lips? I work for ARNSVU and am going to investigate. New suggestion for radio tactic called ‘find the fugitive in the sewers’
