New Magic Brand for NZ

MediaWorks is launching a national brand in New Zealand with Magic to launch April 20.

The Magic brand will be programmed by Ian Avery who is also the CD for the The Breeze.

With the success of The Sound and The Breeze we have a very strong position at the top end of the 25-54 demographic.  Our research shows Magic will complement these brands and fill a significant gap in the market with an attitude and playlist that is currently missing from New Zealand radio”, said MediaWorks Radio CEO Wendy Palmer.

Magic is gunning for the 50-69 demo and so will reflect the music from the formulative years of that demo, taking on the successful Coast network brand from NZME.

Content Director for Magic and The Breeze, Ian Avery says: “We are bringing back fantastic music not often heard on radio today, hosted by an enviable suite of announcers who tap directly into the format and audience.  Authenticity is at the heart of the brand, and will create a Magic experience for consumers and customers.”

With a bunch of frequencies secured last year by MediaWorks, Magic will launch in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch and be available nationwide via www.magic.co.nz.
