Changes to NEWFM Breakfast lineup as Meg Alexander replaces Jade Leeder
The Novos with Jade, Matty & Krivo on Newcastle’s NEWFM is no more, with Jade Leeder making a somewhat mysterious exit from the program.
Leeder, alongside co-hosts Matty Harrison and Mark Krivo, gave no indication the show was about to undergo changes when they went on survey break at the end of July.
When the show returned in August, however, it was briefly revealed Leeder would not be back.
“We do have some rather big news to share with you this morning, and I guess this is pretty big for us,” Harrison told listeners. “Jade, who has been our colleague for three years is no longer going to be on the show with us. We just wanted to thank Jade for the last three years. We’ve really built this show together. We’ve laughed together, we’ve cried together and everything in between.”
He said Leeder would be staying on with NEWFM, but did not reveal in what capacity.
“So we wish Jade all the best, and we move forward, of course.”
Jade, Matty & Krivo are no more
In her place, is Megan Alexander, or ‘Meg’, transforming the show into The Novos with Matty, Meg & Krivo.
Alexander previously worked for rival SCA as the Mornings announcer on Hit 106.9.
Sean Brown assumed that position in June, and at the time, it was unclear what Alexander might do next.
Leeder’s next move is not yet clear, and both she, and NEWFM management have been contacted for comment.
Leeder was previously an announcer on 98.1 Power FM in Musswelbrook and 94.9 Power FM in Nowra. She then became the NSW network music director at parent company Grant Broadcasters, before making the move to NEWFM at the tail end of 2017.
She joined the Breakfast team as an announcer in 2018.
Alexander, meanwhile, was an announcer at Cessnock’s 2CHR and joined SCA in Newcastle in 2015.
In the most recent Newcastle ratings, NEWFM had a 9.4% share overall, down 1.6 points. This put it behind SCA’s stations Triple M (18.7%) and Hit 106.9 (14.9%).
In Breakfast, The Novos with Jade, Matty & Krivo fell 1.2 points to 8.0%, behind Triple M’s Tanya Wilks and Steve Graham (20.0%) and Hit’s Jess & Ducko (13.5%). The syndicated Ebony & Bryce on triple j had a 13.9% share.
