Peter Bell quits ABC Perth Breakfast

Former Assistant Editor

Peter Bell has quit his role at ABC Perth to take up a gig at his old AFL club the Fremantle Dockers.

Former premiership-winning Fremantle captain Bell presents Breakfast with Paula Kruger, having retired from playing football in 2008.

Bell is currently on leave, and will not return to ABC Perth.

“It’s been great having Peter as part of the ABC Radio Perth team,” said ABC’s head of capital city radio Warwick Tiernan.

“We wish Peter well in his new role at the Dockers, and expect he’ll certainly still be heard on our airwaves from time to time.

“Plans for a replacement in 2019 will be announced later in the year.”

Bell says he is excited for the new opportunity with his old club.

“I can’t wait to get in there and roll the sleeves up, but at the same time it is tinged with sadness because I leave behind some wonderful people both at Breakfast, through the entire ABC Perth team and also the listeners as well,” he said.

“My job will be to get the best out of people, now whether that’s the coaching staff, the strength and conditioning (staff), the players as well, I am there to help them to be the best that they can be.”
