EXCLUSIVE: Six figure milestone reached for RadioApp

Radio Today can reveal that RadioApp has reached 100,000 downloads and added three new features.

Industry body Commercial Radio Australia developed the app with All In Media, which hit the market in November last year.

Talking to Radio Today, CRA boss Joan Warner said, “We’ve reached a milestone this week with 100,000 downloads, so it’s a very positive start for a new app, and we’re looking forward to steady growth.”

The latest version of RadioApp released to the Apple Store and Google Play this week introduced three new features that Warner said users had been requesting in future updates. “We’ve just added three new enhancements to RadioApp – a sleep timer, an alarm and a postcode look up.”

“The great thing about RadioApp is that it’s being developed in response to feedback from Australian users.  The new features allow listeners to wake up to their favourite radio show and wind down at night with some music,” she said.

There are 250 music, sports, talk and news radio stations, including some digital-only stations on RadioApp – Buddha, Kinderling Kids Radio, Koffee, EON Sports Radio. CRA hope to add podcasts in the future.

Existing features already allow users to see what’s playing on-air and swipe to change stations, search for stations by name, town or frequency and view a list of recently played songs and purchase songs.

But it’s the addition of a postcode feature that CRA said will deliver new users a better experience from the get-go.

“The postcode look up is also useful, as it allows you to enter your postcode when setting up RadioApp for the first time. The app will then display your local stations first while keeping your GPS location information private.”
