‘Radio star’ joins the ranks of 10’s I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here

Former Editor & Content Director

Channel 10 has revealed a ‘radio star’ will be going into the “Aussie jungle” as part of its I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here competition.

The program teased it could be a female Breakfast host with this clue released this morning: “One thing’s for sure, we hope she likes bugs for breakfast when she swaps her alarm clock for a body shock in our Aussie jungle.”

The show kicks off on January 3, but this year has been pre-recorded locally, rather than being broadcast live from South Africa.

I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here has also teased the following contestants:

  • “A great singer who has sung on the world stage and now will be singing for his supper”
  • A comedian who “when he was in the Hollywood jungle, he had anger management issues”
  • reality TV star  who is “having one last manicure before the claws come out”
  • An “opinionated twosome… used to dishing it out”
  • A “very funny lady… used to heating things up”
  • “One of the biggest names in Aussie TV

Previous publicity for the show flagged Australia as “the most dangerous place on Earth”.

“For the celebrities brave enough to battle the unpredictable Australian terrain this season, wrapping their laughing gear around rice and beans, mozzies and treacherous Tucker Trials should be the least of their worries,” promotional material said.

“Bloody oath we all have some roommate horror stories. But imagine sharing your living quarters with 21 out of 25 of the world’s most dangerous snakes.”

Previous winners of the show include gossip reporter Richard Reid, singer and performer Casey Donovan, chef and media personality Miguel Maestre, UK cricketer Andrew Flintoff, comedian Fiona O’Loughlin, and now co-host of Fox FM’s Breakfast program Brendan Fevola.

Current, former and newly recruited radio personalities including Chrissie Swan (Nova Melbourne Breakfast), Joel Creasey (Nova Drive), Julie Goodwin (former Star 104.5 Breakfast), Steve Price (former 2GB), Ash Pollard (regional NSW Hit Breakfast), Yvie Jones (former Hit Network summer Breakfast), Myf Warhurst (former ABC Radio), and Tanya Hennessy (former Hit Weekend Breakfast) have appeared on the show in the past.

I would be very wary of the use of the word “star”. This is so-called reality TV and it is Channel 10. Just sayin’.
