Ray Hadley opens up after son Daniel’s drug charges dismissed

Former Assistant Editor

Daniel Hadley‘s drug charges over possession of cocaine have been dismissed.

As SMH reports, the 28-year-old son of 2GB’s Ray Hadley appeared in Paramatta Local Court yesterday and was granted a Section 32 dismissal on mental health grounds.

The dismissal was granted on the condition that Daniel continues a mental health treatment plan.

Ray addressed the decision this morning on his 2GB show.

“His life spiralled out of control and he started to abuse both alcohol and cocaine,” he said.

“His family; that’s his sisters, myself, his mum and people surrounding him, have worked intensely with him since then to get him through this problem.

“We’ve got a long way to go.”

The former police officer was arrested while off-duty in August, and was charged after an investigation by the police professional standards command and was suspended after his arrest.

Ray also addressed claims that Daniel had received preferential treatment, admitting that his last name carried “privilege”.

“He knows that his name is Hadley, he knows that going with that name is some privilege but there’s also some downside.

“Yesterday is not the end of the journey, it’s the start of the journey.”

No screaming at radio audience; ‘He was a police officer and in a position of trust. This is an abomination! ‘

Yes hypocrisy thy name is Hadley. If it was anybody else he’d be baying for blood and egging his audience on. But of course, not this time.
