Rex Hunt returns to commentary this weekend

Former Assistant Editor

Legendary football caller Rex Hunt returns to 3AW this weekend to mark 50 years in the sport as a player and a caller.

Rex debuted for Richmond in 1968 before he became a commentator, calling over 2,000 games in an illustrious career behind the mic.

He will call this weekend’s big Collingwood vs St Kilda game, with the news announced this morning on 3AW’s Ross and John.

“There will be a little bit of fun, but the game is the most important thing,” said Rex.

“I wasn’t over comfortable with it, because I think once you’re finished, you’re finished, but Stephen Beers said ‘look, you’re coming home, it’s been 50 years, you’ve been awarded AFL life membership, we’d like you to call the game and this is the one you’ll call.'”

As for who he thinks will win, Rex simply declared that the Saints are playing “shizen hausen” football at the moment.
