Rum company Sailor Jerry launches podcast series

Sailor Jerry Podcast

US rum company Sailor Jerry has launched a new podcast series, with its first episode released today.

The Sailor Jerry Podcast will feature conversations around music, tattoos, food and travel and bring on artists, chefs and athletes as guest interviewees. Episodes are hosted by Matt Caughthran, lead vocalist of American punk rock band The Bronx.

The launch of the new series coincides with the birthday of the brand’s namesake, tattoo artist Norman ‘Sailor Jerry’ Collins, who died in 1973.

The first episode of the bi-weekly podcast features Pelle Almqvist, lead singer of The Hives, who discusses life under lockdown in his native Sweden, as well as his experience touring with AC/DC and friendship with Jack White.

American musician and publisher Wesley Eisold, who records under the moniker Cold Cave, will be a guest on the second episode.

The Sailor Jerry Podcast is inspired by the late Collins’ radio show, Old Ironsides, as well as the tattooing counterculture that emerged in the 20th century. The series showrunners have aimed to highlight guests that continue to exhibit these themes of freedom and self-expression.
