Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) has promoted its current head of podcast sales, Kim Norman, to head of commercial – podcast and partnerships as part of a leadership restructure.

Head of streaming sales and operations, Jonathan Mandel, has also been promoted.

Mandel is now head of digital sales and operations, and will be responsible for driving on-network digital revenue for SCA with a focus on audio, social, video and display.

According to SCA, the new team will work “independently” from its radio sales team.

The media company’s chief executive, Grant Blackley, last week told reporters he hopes LiSTNR will be taken up by 15 million Australians aged over 18 and hinted at more talent acquisitions following the move into live talk radio with shock jock Steve Price.

SCA’s chief sales officer, Brian Gallagher, said the recent launch of LiSTNR represents a watershed moment in the history of SCA, and congratulated both Norman and Mande.

“Kim’s success in building the Podcast Sales team and driving the team’s continued revenue success gives me absolute confidence that she will be exceptional in this new role and continue to champion the growth of LiSTNR and all things digital audio at SCA.

“Branded podcasting is contributing strong growth and is a huge opportunity for the business.

“Jono’s digital knowledge and expertise is an absolute asset to SCA, his high level of skill and passion for all things digital will see him continue to excel in his new role,” he said.

As part of the leadership changes, Angie Stavros moves from group sales manager – LiSTNR podcasts into the newly created commercial partnerships manager role.

Is there any clarity around how much Podcast One (now Listnr) made? Was it profitable? SCA is becoming like a restaurant with too many options on the menu = confusuion

It must be a strange feeling for Steve Price to walk in and host a breakfast show on a platform that nobody is listening to

You got stats to back that statement up Claudine? Or is it a “3 of my friends don’t have, so no one does” scenario.

If Steve Price has 100 people listening, I would suggest he is exceeding expectations
