Southern Cross Austereo lands five noms in Mumbrella neXt Awards

Staff Writer

Southern Cross Austereo will be flying the radio flag at this year’s Mumbrella neXt Awards, which recognise up-and-coming talent across the media, marketing and advertising industries.

Across the 13 neXt Awards categories, SCA snared five nominations: Commercial Talent (Carla Mathisen, Peter Lang & Sally Cartmell), Events Talent (Chloe Wilkinson), Video Producers (Michael Parente).

No other Australian radio networks are nominated this year, however NOVA Entertainment chief executive Cathy O’Connor will speak at the event.

Eligibility isn’t determined by age, but by experience. The awards are open to those with 10 years or less experience since their first paid position in media and marketing.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Sydney on December 10 to be hosted by Ben Harvey and Liam Stapleton, who will make the switch from youth broadcaster triple j to commercial radio’s Nova 91.9 Adelaide next year.

This year, it will be more than just an awards night to recognise the “best and brightest”. The awards ceremony will be proceeded by a half-day conference dedicated to the development and growth of the next generation of industry stars.
