SCA Perth promotes Marc Eddy to acting GM, as Erica McGee steps back

Staff Writer

Marc Eddy is the new acting general manager of Southern Cross Austereo’s (SCA) Perth operation.

SCA Perth has been without a permanent GM since Gina Hogan departed following her maternity leave.

Erica McGee took up the acting GM role during Hogan’s time away from the business and carried on once Hogan returned to Brisbane.

Now, however, McGee wants to focus on the mix94.5 brand as it readies for changes in the Perth market’s content strategy.

Eddy, who has been audio operations manager for WA and SA, will take on a dual role, picking up acting GM responsibilities in addition to his audio opps duties.

Executive general manager of SCA across WA, SA and the NT, James Pedersen, praised both leaders.

“Erica has a humanistic, supportive and encouraging style and has shown very strong leadership in her time as acting GM. To tackle the role amid the COVID-19 pandemic and still manage to lead mix94.5 from strength to strength has been no mean feat. I have no doubt Marc will continue to build on this, and I look forward to seeing him lead the Perth team to further success,” he said.

McGee was similarly emphatic about her replacement.

“I’m thrilled to hand the reins to someone as capable as Marc. We’ve worked together successfully over many years and my respect for him is unwavering – I have no doubt he will step into the role successfully,” she said.

Eddy, meanwhile, said he’s looking forward to the change.

“I’m excited to be given the opportunity to work even closer with the different teams at SCA Perth. SCA has always had such a talented management team across all our markets and I’m looking forward to working alongside the network of leaders,” he said.

In response to an enquiry from Radio Today about why it continues to fill the role in an ‘acting’ rather than a permanent capacity, an SCA spokesperson said: “We are still assessing our leadership needs in Perth in the context of the current COVID landscape.”

In the most recent ratings survey, mix94.5 narrowly lost its crown to Nova. In the final survey before the COVID-19 pause, mix had a market-leading audience share of 12.6%. This actually jumped to 12.7% in the survey results released last month, however Nova climbed from 12% to 12.9%.

SCA’s hit92.9 fell from 10.1% to 8.7%.
