SeaFM’s Alo Baker embarks on a new TV adventure

Staff Writer

SeaFM Gold Coast jock Alo Baker is co-hosting a new TV series Aussie Dreamlivers alongside Jonny Hibbard and Gimli.

The six-part Alaskan adventure series is set to drop on Easter Sunday and will first be televised in New Zealand on TVNZ Duke and TVNZ OnDemand.

“I’ve always struggled to keep still, I thrive on mixing it up and doing different things to challenge myself and this was an opportunity to push myself outside my comfort zone into something I knew very little about,” Baker told Radio Today.

Prior to securing a deal with TVNZ, Baker and the team had a hard time convincing TV networks to pick up the series. With no experience in video or television, Baker spent two years fine tuning his video editing skills on YouTube.

“There was always the risk I was going to fail and I was very concerned about it,” the SCA workday announcer admitted.

Baker credited his career in radio as a crucial element in creating and developing the idea behind Aussie Dreamlivers, while remaining adamant that his true obsession belongs on the airwaves.

“Honestly, radio has always will be my passion and it was my core foundation for making this TV show happen. I would’ve never got this far without the skills and connections I’ve made within radio,” he said.
