Stan Grant lands new ABC gig covering international affairs

Veteran broadcaster Stan Grant has returned to the ABC as its new international affairs analyst.

He will provide stories and analysis for TV shows including 7.30 and Four Cornes, as well as ABC Online and various audio platforms.

Grant will also contribute to a new regular China segment on The World each Thursday evening.

“Stan Grant is one of Australia’s most knowledgeable and respected journalists, with extensive direct China experience, and it’s terrific to have him as part of the ABC  team,” ABC director, news Gaven Morris said.

Grant has over 30 years working in broadcast radio and TV, covering news and current affairs.

He’s worked as a news presenter for Macquarie Radio, Seven, SBS, and CNN, as well as at the ABC for local radio and news radio.

He has authored four non-fiction books and also won a Logie in 1994 as the host of Seven’s Real Life.

He said his new role comes as the world is at a critical juncture.

“Coronavirus has laid waste to our economies and revealed our fragility at the same time as democracy is in retreat and a more authoritarian China is reshaping global power,” he said.

“I’m really looking forward to drawing on my three decades as a reporter covering the big conflicts and stories of our time and joining the dots of that for Australians.”
