Tanya Hennessy chats new National Weekend Brekky gig on ‘The Radio Randomly Podcast’
The latest episode of Daniel ‘Gawndy’ Gawned‘s The Radio Randomly Podcast is a chat with Tanya Hennessy.
Tanya began hosting National Weekend Breakfast on the Hit Network in 2018, and she tells Gawndy all about her new gig.
She speaks about the adrenaline that comes when the phones light up on a national show, and how that adrenaline and excitement helps her overcome her anxiety.
“Radio is the one thing that unlocks my anxiety, because I’m truly present,” Tanya explains.
Hear the full chat below:
Gawndy has future episodes teed up with Riley-Rose Harper from Hit104.9 The Boarder, and with Tom & Olly from Triple M Nights.

Why is Tanya only on weekends now ? She was once one of radio’s rising stars as was Maz Compton from Dan and Maz. Its a tough biz.
@Micheal Yet PD’s are confused why talent isn’t sending in demo’s.
Just because someone says you’re a star doesn’t mean you always will be..
Plus.. Plenty of opportunities exist. You just have to be willing to take sideways steps to move forward sometimes..
That’s not unique to radio – but all businesses..
Hey Michael
Tanya is on a NATIONAL Weekend Breakfast show on the Hit Network while using the time she didn’t have free last year to write a book & rack up over a million Facebook followers! That my friend is the definition of killing it!
Hey Guys,
I wanted and asked to be on weekends as I have a lot of other projects on the boil and couldn’t commit to full time this year. So weekends is amazing for me right now as I can still keep stay onair cause I love radio 🙂
Tanya x
Well we do know what usually happens to air talent when they are moved to weekend shifts hopefully this won’t be the case this time ?????
Nationally networked weekend breakfast is a pretty big deal, I don’t know why people would consider that a backwards move or even a side step.
Hopefully she’ll get a proper weekday show with another network. How about 3pm pick up
@Tanya glad its working for you 🙂 , I was originally trying to hint and a potential bigger problem that radio mainly commercial is potentially on a personnel front.
When compared to other platforms its simply not an overly attractive place to work sales pressures, micromanagement etc etc @Mark there are plenty of workplaces where that is not a thing.
