The biggest viral hit since Bieber

Staff Writer

Before we get into the serious business of the Survey 6 results for the metro markets, let's take a few minutes to calm those nerves and have some fun learning about the biggest viral sensation of the moment.

It's performed by a South Korean rapper named 'Psy' (Park Jae Sung).

“Gangnam Style” went viral faster than Justin Bieber’s “Baby.” It has currently had 132 million views since hitting YouTube on July 15.

He also performed it at the VMA's in the U.S. late last week.

What does 'Gangnam Style' mean ?

Gangnam is a wealthy neighborhood in Seoul where young people go to party. In the song, Psy describes the kind of guy he is and the kind of girl he wants, painting caricatures of the people who hang out in Gangnam.

Apparently it's actually a subtle commentary on class in South Korea.

What's the deal with the dance ?

Psy has said…."It's a horse-riding dance. So there is an invisible horse, and you're on it."

On YouTube he says….

"This is the first thing I have ever taught my mom. She is 60 and has some serious natural talent. So… thank you PSY for bringing me and my mom together through your awesome music haha"
