The Chaser take over Triple M Sydney Breakfast

Former Assistant Editor

The Chaser have been given a proper shot at Breakfast radio, with the boys set to fill in for The Grill Team over summer break on Triple M Sydney.

Craig Reucassel, Andrew Hansen, Dom Knight and Charles Firth will move from their normal one-hour arvo slot into a three-hour Brekky slot for the next two weeks.

The announcement follows the departure of The Grill Team’s Matty Johns, with a lineup for the show yet to be confirmed for 2019.

“I was really looking forward to doing breakfast till I heard it started at 6am,” Craig told Radio Today.

“Sadly, our job is to clean the grill while the Triple M Grill Team is on holidays,” said Andrew.

‘6 to 9am will be interesting, cos I’ve never done radio in my sleep before.’

“While the Triple M staff are away over summer, we’re gonna have wild, drug-fuelled parties and ride naked on goats. Mind you, that’s what the staff do normally.’

“Triple M Summer Breakfast is just an audition for bigger things. If it goes well, we’ve been promised the breakfast shift on the Townsville tourist information station.”

“I’m really excited about commuting into work at 4am,” added Charles. “I hear the traffic jams at that hour are so much more peaceful.”

“I’m planning to use hard drugs to get me through the experience. Mind you, I did that in the afternoon slot, too.

“I’m just looking forward to the sleep deprivation. I’ve always wanted to be as grumpy as Alan Jones“.

The Chaser crew will be joined by comedian Zoe Norton Lodge who has worked with the team on ABC shows including The Hamster Wheel and The Chaser’s Media Circus.

She is also a long-serving presenter on recently-axed consumer affairs program The Checkout.

“It’s great to be teaming up with this young up and coming comedy group “The Chasers” just as they’re hitting their stride,” she said.

Triple M Melbourne is also welcoming a guest host for summer Breakfast, with MMM favourite Richard Stubbs filling in for Eddie McGuire and co.

He’ll be joined by The Hot Breakfast’s Rosemary Walton.

“Two weeks of early starts and mucky around,” he tweeted.

Stubbsy returns to his spiritual home once again, after filling in for The Hot Breakfast back in October.

Would of been good if The Chaser broadcast the breakfast show into Melbourne, nothing against Richard Stubbs but I think The Chaser are very funny & great listening on Saturday mornings in Melbourne.
