The ‘Prodcast’ welcomes BBC’s Matt Fisher

The BBC holds a unique position in the hearts of many Britons. Established in 1922, it’s been a mainstay through war and peace and has helped shape British culture through the 20th Century and beyond.

Among its more than 20,000 employees is lead imaging producer Matt FisherHe leads a team of eight producers in London, creating the sound of BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Radio 2, 6Music and Asian Network.

He joins Prodcast series creator Dom Evans on the season’s penultimate episode.

“When you think of world-class radio brands, they don’t come much bigger than The BBC. It’s an absolute pleasure and to have Matt Fisher on the podcast.”

“The experience and knowledge he has is so valuable, and it’s great to be able to share that with the whole industry.”

“I have a huge amount of admiration for The BBC brands, they are leaders in our field and sound amazing, in no small part, thanks to Matt and his team.”

Fisher shares a lot with Evans including what he’s learned about dealing with talent, building a winning team and dealing with moments of ‘self-doubt’.

He also shares the inspiration for the now famous Radio 1 ‘sonic’ that can be heard in all of their imaging: the little sound made when the Xbox is switched on.

According to Evans, this conversation with Fisher offers just about something for anyone working in radio.

“If you’re interested in making great content, whatever department you’re in, this episode is for you.”
