‘Those Two Girls’ launch new podcast ‘The Sugar Rush’

Hosts of the Hit Network’s national early Breakfast show, Lise Carlaw and Sarah Wills – or Those Two Girls – have launched a new podcast, The Sugar Rush.

“It will be just like having the girls with you on your walk to the local coffee house, as you’re entertainingly brought up to speed with the top five pop culture stories circling your morning inbox by the time you have ordered your double shot liquid gold in a cup,” publicity from PodcastOne Australia said.

Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) owns both the Hit Network and PodcastOne Australia. The company’s head of entertainment and news content for digital audio, Sam Cavanagh, said Carlaw and Wills are two of the funniest women on radio, and that their “banter and storytelling is first class”.

“PodcastOne has had an enormous success with daily short-form podcast, with both The Briefing, and All Day Breakfast with Matt & AlexThe Sugar Rush is our next show in this space where listeners will get up to speed on the biggest entertainment and pop culture stories of the day, delivered with the Those Two Girls’ trademark humour,” he added.

Carlaw and Wills added that the content would be feel-good, rather than focused on salacious, negatively-skewed gossip. The Sugar Rush, they said, would be a morning commute podcast with their own spin.

“We’re best friends on and off the air, so unpacking the latest entertainment stories is, by default, part of the day,” the duo said. “Think of it as daily fly-on-the-wall listening, where we put the latest pop culture news through our own lens of life experiences and semi-related anecdotes,” the duo said.

Carlaw and Wills also host a weekly podcast, Forty which celebrates the life lessons and stories of popular Australian women in their forties.

Those Two Girls should be permanently on Weekend Breakfast! First time listening to them filling in for Dylan in the last fortnight and they smashed it. Maybe SCA could swap Dil and Gus with their 5am weekday slot because TTG is totally on brand with the Hit Network’s skewing towards older females now.

I will definitely favourite their new show on PodcastOne. At least SCA is acknowledging their amazingness in baby steps.
