Triple M’s Lawrence Mooney lands new Fox Footy gig

Former Assistant Editor

Newly installed Triple M Sydney Breakfast host Lawrence Mooney has added another string to his bow.

The comedian has been tapped to host a new comedy-driven show on Fox Sports following on from Friday Night Footy.

He’ll be joined by Nova 100 announcer Dean Thomas, who anchor’s the Chrissie, Sam & Browny Breakfast show.

The new show will launch on March 18, with Mooney and Thomas to be joined by a rotating third guest each week.

“Footy fans live to laugh and that’s what this show is. A laugh,” Mooney told Fox Footy.

“Footy fans love detail and that’s where our comedy lies. In the fun bits and pieces that surround our great game.

“A live studio elevates the show tenfold. To have that rapport with an audience and that instant reaction is something that makes comedy magnificent.”

Mooney helped Triple M Brisbane’s ‘The Big Breakfast’ become the #1 FM Breakfast show last year, and will be hoping for similar success this year in Sydney.

I don’t think the Moonman is going to do that well in the next radio ratings. I predict the show will slip to 5% or under

No way! Look what happened in Brisbane…. Triple M Brisbane went from zero to hero in just under 12 months.

He should fix his breakfast show before he starts doing TV work.
