Two-hour Molly Meldrum special hitting radio this weekend

Former Features Editor

Molly Meldrum has curated a list of his top tracks for a new compilation album – providing the perfect opportunity to chat to the iconic figure about the music hits and misses of the past few decades.

‘Molly’s Jukebox Classics’ is a 40-track collection of part favourites, and this weekend on stations across Australia you’ll hear Barry Bissell chatting to Molly about the tracks he has chosen, and the ol’ days of Countdown.

Recorded at Molly’s house in Melbourne, the two-hour special is a deep dive into the 74-year-old’s illustrious career.

“Apart from it being a great musical experience over two hours, It was great to sit down with Molly and relive some behind the scenes moments of the Countdown TV show and stories of music acts like John Paul Young, Leo Sayer and John Farnham who contributed to it’s success,” radio legend Barry Bissell told Radio Today.

“We honour artists that are no longer with us and even revisit Molly’s train-wreck interview with Prince Charles.”

You can hear Molly talking about adding to his collection of Jukeboxes at home below, or do yourself a favour and tune in this weekend to listen to the interview in full.

The special will be on-air across a host of Grant Broadcasters, ACE Radio, Flow Media and ARN stations on October 7 and 8, and will also be replayed on Sydney’s WSFM on October 15 at 6pm.
