Ugly Phil lands at Fix Radio

Former Assistant Editor

Fix Radio has announced that ‘Ugly’ Phil O’Neil will host its new Breakfast show.

Triple M announced that Phil was departing Triple M last month, and now Fix Radio has been revealed as his next destination.

“I don’t think it needs Fixing coz it’s the perfect station already,” said Phil.

“I can’t wait to join Fix Radio’s breakfast show, and I think I’ll be a perfect fit because people have been telling me that I’m a tool for years.”

“Great radio stations are built on great talent and Ugly Phil is one of the world’s best,” said Fix FM PD Graham Mack.

“It’s brilliant that he’s joining our line-up that also includes Russ and Jono, formerly of Virgin Radio and Clive Holland from BBC TV’s Cowboy Trap.

Phil started out with Austereo at Sea FM on the Gold Coast almost three decades ago.

In 1993 he hosted ‘Phil O’Neil’s Hot 30’ with now ex-wife Jackie ‘O’ Henderson on Triple M Adelaide, and the show was moved to Fox FM and renamed the Hot 30 Countdown.

The show became popular and Austereo decided to syndicate it nationally, with Phil and Jackie moving to Sydney to broadcast out of 2DayFM.

Since those heady days, Phil has spent multiple stints in the UK with XFM, KISS, LBC and Kerrang! Radio.

Down Under he’s worked at Nova 96.9, Triple M Nights, Triple M Sydney Breakfast, 96FM and Star 104.5.

What a loss. This year 2MMM has changed from Rock to Bland – I wonder if that’s why Phil is baling out. Good luck to you, Phil.
