Vale Les Rose

Staff Writer

The Australian Radio Industry has lost another popular figure with the death of former announcer, Les Rose.

His career spanned the 60s, 70s and 80s with time spent in Canberra at both 2CA and 2CC.  He also worked in Perth and in South Australia at 5KA and 5MU, where he was considered one of the ‘great guys’ of radio.

Les passed away in his sleep early Monday morning after a lengthy battle with illness and is survived by his daughter Maggie, granddaughter Harper and grandson Hadley.

He was passionate about what he did, very creative, did things like spool the Rola by hand to play a live read for a battery store! Shared a lot of good times with him back in the day…He was a one off…I’ll miss ya Rosie!

Shared some wonderful memories at 2CA oh so many years ago , Les also did many Green Mobile Music Machine gigs a mobile disco that was very popular and owned by me. Very sad to hear of his passing at such an early age, many thanks to Maggie for sending me an email based on Facebook links unfortunately I only saw the news yesterday. My condolences to family to friends. Cheers Gary Green 2CA 1977-1979.
