Will Grant Denyer leave 2DayFM Breakfast?

Staff Writer

Grant Denyer is reportedly considering his future at 2DayFM beyond 2019.

TV Blackbox reports that the TV and radio host, who has been a part of the 2DayFM Breakfast lineup since 2018, may not return to the station next year.

Denyer and co-hosts Ed Kavalee and Ash London helped the show to a 4.6% share earlier in 2019, but as of Survey #4 the trio rated just 3.1% (-1.1).

As well as 2DayFM Breakfast, Grant also hosts Celebrity Name Game, and recently wrapped up duties on Dancing With The Stars.

2018 was a big year for Grant. He won Best Newcomer On-Air at the Australian Commercial Radio Awards, as well as the Gold Logie after Ten cancelled Family Feud.

Southern Cross Austereo has reportedly been fighting with Network Ten over Grant’s time commitments, with both wanting him to commit to them full-time.

Grant wife Chezzie said that they “haven’t made any decisions about next year”, though his contract is up at the end of 2019.

When asked for comment, a spokesperson for SCA told Radio Today the network doesn’t comment on contracts or rumours.

Both wanting him to commit to them full-time. Really no ratings on either radio or TV let him go. This looks like a set up anyway. He couldn’t get arrested a year ago. I smell bulls***t.

The vibe Grant has bought to the 2DayFM breakfast show is great! He is a lot of fun and just what that show needs. Will be very sad to see him leave…

2Day need to beg and plead Grant to stay on in 2020. The station needs to be consistent and stop changing shows every 18 months.
