Power FM's Daft Punk prank on new announcer

Yesterday, the Power FM Ballarat team punk'd their new workday announcer.

Aaron Chilcott, ex-AMD and morning announcer on Mix Melbourne has recently started at Power and with everyone talking about Daft Punk's appearance at Wee Waa in NSW, they decided to initiate the new guy.

They used social media to get Aaron going and then finished it off with this call from the boss and appearance in the Power FM studio of 'Daft Punk'. Hear the audio below :-

Jonesy & Amanda drop into AFTRS

Jonesy & Amanda from WSFM recently popped into AFTRS and were guest speakers for the radio students.

They told how their careers developed and what to expect from the radio industry.

Jonesy said: "I can talk about radio all day. It's nice to have people listen to me without their eyes glazing over... I think."

Dylan's song for The Power

Nova 919 Adelaide breakfast host Dylan Lewis has named himself the "self appointed, number one, original ambassador" for the Port Adelaide Football Club.

Power player Hamish Hartlett asked Dylan if he’d think about playing footy. HIs response, “I could sing a song at the football, like Meatloaf maybe.”

So instead he has recorded a song for the club and shot a video clip.

Matt & Jo stars of stage

Fox FM's Matt and Jo, along with Troy Ellis, will join the cast of Legally Blonde The Musical onstage at the Princess Theatre for 'one special performance'.

Matt, Jo and Troy have previously performed cameos in Hairspray and Rocky Horror, and will take to the boards for Legally Blonde The Musical with Jules Lund and Byron Cooke from the Drive show on Tuesday 11 June.

It happened because MG said he thought Chris Page's job as anchor and panel op looked easy.

Who were the winners in the NZ Radio Awards

The 2013 NZ Radio Awards were held yesterday afternoon.

Unlike in Australia where we have the ACRA's night, the radio awards in New Zealand are dished out via a webcast. It is presented in a very light-hearted way with lots of gags and is filmed in a loungeroom in front of a green screen.

Nova play Space Invaders

Nova's Breakfast show in Brisbane "Ash, Kip and Luttsy" have hosted a tennis version of the iconic arcade game Space Invaders.

Sixteen listeners lined up on one side of the tennis court whilst Ash controlled the automatic ball server on the other side. The last person standing won $2,500.

This Tuesday will mark smoothfm's 1st birthday, and it's survey day !

dmg Group PD Paul Jackson has spoken with The Music Network about the first year of the station.

Jackson said: "To simply have the opportunity to launch new radio stations into saturated market places, with a format that hadn’t existed here before, was very exciting for myself and all the smooth team to be a part of.

NZ breakfast host 'fakes it' live on-air

Jay-Jay, Mike & Dom are the breakfast show on New Zealand radio station The Edge.

While interviewing the host of 'Hottest Home Baker', Colin Mathura Jeffree, they decided to play a game called 'Hottest Home Faker' (and yes it is exactly what you think).

Dom was the only one to 'fake it' before they quickly ended the game, with Jay-Jay in particular seeming uncomfortable with the content choice.
