ABC Alice Springs throw the doors open

Rae Allen ABC Station Manager 88-94, doing an OB at the Alice Springs ShowABC Alice Springs will hold an open day next Wednesday April 1st, on the 25th anniversary of the opening of the current studios on Gap Road.

The opening at that time was quite an event with people riding a line of camels, headed by former ABC Boss David Hill (pictured below).

Pure radio marketing genius

One from the Vault. It's from the US, it's a studio tour from 1991 - now this is marketing genius.

Marvel at the innovations - like recording Cd's to Carts - Winning!

A Production Director wearing a Tie -  Winning!

And these guys clicked into this whole multi-tasking thing way ahead of us - a  PD  that is also the MD - we can feel that bottom line humming - Winning!

And  our favourite - every station needs a mascot, every station needs "Billy the Back to Back Bear" - at this point honestly, the minds boggles - but more Winning!

Warning: features some really bad acting and dodgy lines like: "Oh they're fun."

"We wake up in the morning and after a while we're having fun."

Shocker!

Steve Vizard's Tonight Live / Austereo simulcast

In 1990, Steve Vizard's Tonight Live did a simulcast show that aired on the Australian Television network and the Today network.

While Mike Perso (now smooth Melbourne breakfast) sat next to Vizard in the 'studio', other radio people included Rob McCasker (B105), Mike Hammond (2Day) and Grubby & Dee Dee (Fox).
