Go Traffic Media has launched in Australia covering metropolitan and regional areas in competition to the Australian Traffic Network (ATN).

The new company says it is already reaching a cumulative weekly audience of over 1.5 million and was established by traffic radio industry veteran Jay Flood alongside advertising specialist Liam Ryan.

Current broadcast partners for Go Traffic Media include a metro station in each major city: Hope FM Sydney, 89.9 LightFM Melbourne, 96.5 Family FM Brisbane, 107.9 Life FM Adelaide, and 98.5 Sonshine FM Perth, plus a scattering of regional stations across all states.

“We’ve put together a very loyal and engaged audience, great stations and an experienced team of traffic reporters,” Flood said. “We know how well traffic radio works so we’re excited to get our new offering out to the market.”

Ryan told Radio Today that Go Traffic Media will look to expand in the future, but won’t be leasing any helicopters, opting for on the ground reporters with local knowledge.

“It’s all about incremental reach and affordability. This is an audience that is hard to reach through traditional media channels and we can deliver them to all advertisers – large and small – at great value,” added Ryan.

Go Traffic Media’s major competitor is the more established ATN which provide live updates to more than 80 commercial radio stations including the Triple M and Mix FM stations, Alan Jones’ talkback radio home, 2GB, and ABC local radio.
