** Fiveaa's Bob Francis says goodbye to radio after 57 years. Hear AUDIO from his final show here **

Veteran 5AA Night Announcer Bob Francis will retire at the end of 2013 following a turbulent couple of years.

Whilst Francis has said that the decision was his alone, it is possible that 5AA are ready to make a change, and may have encouraged the decision.

Unwelcome controversy is only survivable for talk hosts when it is accompanied by strong ratings, and Francis' ratings have been in decline for some time.

Francis has told the Adelaide Sunday Mail;

"I just decided I wasn't really enjoying coming into work each day anymore, I talked it over with my wife and we thought it was the right time"

The Sunday Mail has reported that they had arranged for a face to face interview with Bob Francis this afternoon, however the interview was cancelled by 5AA management.

In the most recent radio survey, the evening slot on 5AA fell by 0.9% to 11.9%, in third place behind ABC891 and Mix 102.3.
