New weekend show for Today network

Staff Writer

Launching on the 28th of September will be a new weekend breakfast show on the Today network.

Sophie Monk and Dave Thornton will host the show that will air from 7am to 9am on Saturday and Sunday.

Sophie, who’s returning home from L.A. said, “When Dave told me he was a world class barista, professional short order chef and accredited shoulder masseur, I jumped at the chance of working with him.

Spending Saturday and Sunday mornings with that kind of talent is a dream come true. I also hear he’s not too bad at radio either!"

Dave Thornton, who since finishing up on Mamamia Today is now anchoring This Week Live on Ten, says:

“We bring different talents to the table. She’s been a pop singer and Hollywood actor and I once ate two kilograms of cashews in one sitting. I think this is going to work well.”

Head of Today Network Content Dave Cameron said, “Australia heard how down-to-earth and off the cuff Sophie is when she filled in for Fifi earlier this year. Combine that with one of Australia’s funniest comedians – weekend mornings will be undeniably entertaining.”

The show will be produced by MCM Media. Their Group Content Director Sam Thompson said, “We’re excited to launch Weekend Breakfast with Sophie and Dave. It’ll be worth getting up early on the weekend.”
