2UE reveal brand new 2014 lineup

Staff Writer

2UE have today announced their lineup for 2014 in what they are saying reflects "a new and invigorated station with a clear focus on putting the listener first."

GM of 2UE Chris Parker said that following audience and market research, next year would be a fresh start for the station.

“First and foremost, we are a commercial radio talkback station and our audience should be at the heart of everything we do. We need to win back the trust of our loyal listeners and give them a fresh reason to tune in.

“We want to provide the listening audience of Sydney with a real choice and genuine point of difference.

“We are building an on-air team which better reflects our audience and we’ll be focussing on more relevant content with a particular emphasis on Sydney and everything that’s happening in the city.

“There’ll be a variety of fair and balanced opinions on the station – not hysterical preaching or bile.  This is not about categorising announcers as “left” or “right” but about airing all sides of a particular story or debate.

“We’ll be presenting news, current affairs, information and entertainment in a way that’s balanced, fair and uplifting.

“We have selected a line-up of experienced broadcasters and new voices to 2UE 954, who are talented and credible, who’ll be focussed on content that matters to our audience of greater metropolitan Sydney."

"The line-up delivers what our audience want and expect: intelligent discussion of news and issues that matter in Sydney, fair and balanced opinions, positivity and a station that gives the listeners their say no matter what their view might be."

Breakfast: John Stanley (right) is one of 2UE's most popular and respected presenters having an enviable history of broadcasting excellence. Over the past three years John's Weekend Breakfast program has consistently delivered ratings in excess of a 10 share. John brings an extensive general knowledge, vast experience in breaking news, a reputation for balance and fairness and a wry sense of humour.

Garry Linnell (left) is one of the country’s most experienced, credible and awarded newsmen, having worked as Editor in Chief of The Bulletin, Director of News and Current Affairs at the Nine Network, Editor of The Daily Telegraph and Director of News Media at Fairfax. A gifted storyteller, a Walkey Award winning journo, news breaker and accomplished author, Garry turns his hand to the craft of radio in 2014, with listeners sure to embrace his unique take on our city.

Mornings: Angela Catterns (right) is a well-known Sydney media personality and accomplished broadcaster with a proven history of success. Thought-provoking, well informed and highly entertaining, Angela will present a program with a focus on talkback and audience interaction. Her engaging interviewing style, warmth and balance will prove a winning combination. Angela will represent a significant point of difference to the current commercial radio alternative.

Afternoons: Dicko and Sarah (left) will transition from Breakfast to Afternoons in 2014. A great storyteller, Dicko will have greater flexibility to interact with listeners during this timeslot. He and Sarah formed a great connection with listeners during talkback segments at Breakfast this year. They’ll have the chance to grow that natural chemistry even further in the New Year, unencumbered by the tight time slots of Breakfast. The format of afternoons will allow both Dicko and Sarah to present material that both they and their audience enjoy.

Drive: Justin Smith (right) has been the driving force behind the success of Neil Mitchell’s award winning Morning Show on 3AW. The ultimate radio professional, Justin has served as executive producer of the show and regular station fill in host across a variety of programs. A gifted writer and six time ACRA winner, Justin brings to Sydney a fresh perspective on the Harbour city, representing a bright new voice for 2UE 954.

Nights: Clive Robertson (left) is an Australian media icon who’s been on radio and TV for over four decades. Famous for his intellect and dry humour, Clive will inform and entertain as only he knows how – and is a welcome permanent addition to nights at 2UE 954.

Weekends: Stuart Bocking (right) has been promoted to the Weekend Breakfast shift. The program is one of the most successful on 2UE and with the departure of John Stanley, the appointment of one of 2UE's most popular presenters is critical to ensure its continued success. Listeners love Stuart's incredible general knowledge and dry sense of humour and the program will position the station for continued success on weekends in 2014.

George and Paul (left) are 2UE legends who’ve ruled the airwaves for over a decade. George and Paul are 2UE's most popular presenters and the program regularly rates Number One in its time slot. Continuing in the slot ensures the station will continue to dominate Sydney talk radio in the middle of the day. Their on-air chemistry and mix of current affairs, trivia and humour will ensure continued success into 2014.

Tim Webster (right) will host weekend afternoons in a show full of news, sport, entertainment, information, lifestyle and leisure. The consummate professional, Tim Webster is an ever popular broadcaster with 2UE 954 listeners.

The new lineup will begin mid-January.
