Vale Stephen Kelly

In sad news this morning, it has been revealed that Stephen Kelly, the Chief Financial Officer for Southern Cross Media, passed away at the weekend from pancreatic cancer.

On Friday SCA announced that he would be taking indefinite leave to seek medical treatment, and at 9.30 this morning they have released a statement confirming his passing on Sunday.

In the statement, SCA has said:

"Stephen was a highly respected member of our senior team and held in deep admiration and affection by our board, our company, its staff and the investor community.

We offer our deepest sympathies and condolences to the many friends that Steve had at SCMG and, more importantly, to his wife Alex, children Josh and Ben, and his many friends."

CEO Rhys Holleran commented of Kelly:

"Steve was an outstanding individual and a great friend to many through our group and he will be missed by all of us. I cannot begin to tell you personally what this man has meant to me, he has been a dear friend, an extraordinarily talented colleague and just a great man." 

Stephen Kelly had been CFO of Southern Cross Media since 21 April 2010, after a career in accounting, finance and management roles. He held senior positions in Australia, Asia and the US.
