Pandora has made its next move in Australia

Staff Writer

Already taking front and centre in Australian car dashboards of Mazda, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Holden – Ford Australia is now locked in.

Pandora has announced that Ford Australia is aiming to have the app installed in 60% of their vehicles sold here in 2015.

Pandora will roll out across the Fiesta ST, Focus ST and Ford Kuga models and others base models including the Fiesta, Focus, Ranger and Transit models by early 2015.

Back in July RadioToday talked about the Elephant in The Room – Pandora’s strategy to take on traditional radio started in 2010 and their aggressive positioning in the market has seen about 135 models from 26 different automobile makers coming out this year alone pre-installed with Pandora services. In 2014 it has secured roughly one-third of all the new models sold.

In Australia they have clocked over 2 million accounts as their user base in under two years.

“We really believe that the battle for in car entertainment is really on the verge of heating up here and across the world,” Jane Huxley, managing director, Pandora ANZ told AdNews.

While Pandora stands out as the must have addition in cars, how will the marketing for DAB+ stand up against it?
