Chrissie Swan: is it all over?

Staff Writer

Sunday: ARN confirmed that it will relaunch the struggling Mix 101.1 Melbourne as KIIS 101.1 in 2015. They also confirmed Hughesy & Kate will take over the national Drive show on the network.

Monday: Chrissie Swans manager David Wilson says At this point in time I have no confirmed gigs for Chrissie Swan in 2015.”

So is it all over for Chrissie and ARN?

Rumours as to whether Chrissie is in or out have been circling for a few weeks now, and her Manager David Wilson from Watercooler Talent broke the silence this afternoon by confirming to the Herald Sun that no deal has been signed with ARN for Chrissie in 2015.

“But that’s not an unusual position to be in early November. Traditionally, this is the time when media operators look to the year ahead as they weigh up their programming options. We will need to wait and see what opportunities are available for Chrissie and go from there”, he told the paper.

Not only is nothing inked in radio for Chrissie, but no TV deals are locked away for the New Year either at this stage he went on to say.

There has been whispers that Swan's management have overplayed their hand by demanding a 2015 salary that is well north of market value, particularly considering the Mix 101.1 Breakfast ratings through 2014.

If so, it seems increasingly likely that ARN have decided to cut ties with Swan and move on to other options. The speculation is getting stronger by the day that Matt Tilley will be joining Jane Hall on the new KIIS Melbourne, a proposition that would certainly be a strong Breakfast play for the station.

So could ARN’s third announcement for Melbourne KIIS 101.1 be a new Breakfast team?
