With Rhys Holleran exiting Southern Cross Austereo in July, the hunt is on for his replacement.

Already, Chair of SCA Peter Bush has taken the CEO reigns with the board appointing Heidrick & Struggles to assist in the process of identifying a successor for the vacant position.

Peter Bush has already stated that “Radio experience was not a prerequisite as the biggest priorities were “strategic and commercial”.

Today The Australian Financial Review is reporting current V8 Supercars CEO James Warburton as a candidate to take the SCA CEO helm.

Peter BushPeter Bush and James Warburton’s paths have crossed before, when Peter was the Chairman of Nine Entertainment; while James Warburton was head of Sales with Seven West Media.

James, now with V8 Supercars, was head hunted to run Channel Ten by Lachlan Murdoch in 2011. But he didn’t start until January 2012 because Seven West took the Ten Network to court and had terms applied to his appointment. By 2013 James Warburton exited after the TEN Board appointed News Corporation executive Hamish McLennan to run the network.

An insider has told Radio Today that another name being tipped as a potential SCA CEO is Michael Miller from APN.
