96fm, Hughesy & Kate

Staff Writer

Hughesy & Kate added Perth to their network list only this week.  Today the 96FM Facebook page asked “how the show was going”.

Pretty brave stuff and there are already close to 400 comments. ARN seems to have taken an open approach on it all. We asked ARN Goup CD Duncan Campbell a couple of quick questions on how it’s all going at 96FM.

Blair: You’re now nearly one week down with Hughesy & Kate on 96fm… we noticed today you’ve asked for people’s feedback on the show via Facebook.

Duncan:We’re very pleased that our audiences in Perth are able to drive home with the much-loved Hughesy & Kate, one of radio’s all-time great partnerships, who’ve already established themselves as the country’s #1FM Drive show since beginning in Drive this year.

Hughesy & Kate bring a fresh, fun dynamic to the drive slot and are heard nationally on KIIS 101.1 in Melbourne, KIIS 1065 in Sydney, 97.3FM in Brisbane, Mix 102.3 in Adelaide and now on 96FM in Perth.

Blair: There have been a number of negative comments, were you expecting that kind of response?

Duncan: Hughesy & Kate have been on-air in Perth for less than a week but we feel that loyal 96FM listeners will soon embrace them like our audiences in Brisbane and  Adelaide who made the switch earlier this year also and, in less than two surveys, made  Hughesy & Kate the country’s most popular Drive show.

Blair: Is the perception of them being an “East Coast” show real?

Duncan: 96FM is a strong performer in the Perth market and we won’t be taking any actions to disrupt this and we really feel the addition of Hughesy & Kate into the station’s line up marks an important and positive step for 96FM’s positioning in the market.
