Down Periscope, UP Facebook Mentions?

Back in April Radio Today’s Tracy Johnson did a great story on how you could tap into using the Twitter backed Periscope App on your show. Periscope is an instant real time video stream. Just this week though, Facebook has countered the Persicope push with a new App, Facebook Mentions.

It’s a new social package from the Facebook boffins that allows you to not only share updates across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter all from one app, but the killer part for radio is Go Live.

This one is perfect for radio. It allows you to cover an event with a live video stream. While similar to Periscope, the critical difference is that the video with Facebook Mentions Go Live, the video content is there forever for replaying, compared to Periscope in which you only have a 24 hour window before it’s gone forever.
