30th Anniversary of Whispering Jack

Staff Writer

Many stations across the country celebrated the 30th Anniversary of John Farnham’s Whispering Jack. Take a listen to how River 949 and RadioWest covered it.

River 949 put together a special to celebrate the 30th anniversary of John Farnham’s Whispering Jack album.

Released October 20 1986 it is still the highest album ever in Australia and to mark the 30th anniversary River had a bunch of special guests on with Marnie and Campo for breakfast including Ross Wilson who co-wrote a touch of paradise and Glenn Wheatley.

In the arvo they played the Whispering Jack album in full with a production packaged that the team at River wrote, that was produced up by Grants Troy Cheeksy Mcinnes.

Over in the West Carmela Contarino who’s show is networked on SCA’s Triple M RadioWest across the state spoke. with Glenn Wheatley.

Carmela told us that Glenn, was wildly nostalgic, confirming and speaking candidly about… Mortgaging his house for the album, the struggle to turn John from Mr ‘Sadie the Cleaning Lady’ to the National treasure he is today and radio refusing to play or add You’re The Voice and how it only got airplay due to listeners no stop calling and requests.
