97.3 launches ‘jabs for cash’ to encourage vaccinations

Former Editor & Content Director

ARN’s 97.3FM is urging Brisbane to increase its vaccination rate as the state lags the rest of the country.

Breakfast host Robin Bailey said she was getting a little frustrated by the situation.

“Tez and I are getting our second AstraZeneca jab today, but the reality is the sun is out, we’re not in lockdown and people are just complacent when it comes to getting vaccinated. Ans the problem is, we’re the worst in the country,” she said.

The Breakfast trio of Robin, Terry & Bob had new 97.3FM content director Ali Longhurst come on the air to confirm she had allocated $10,000 to the Cash Injection initiative.

Instead of giving it away as a bulk prize, the team decided it would offer 50 lots of $200 over 10 days.

Those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or those who have booked future appointments, can register online for the incentive.

Co-host Terry Hansen shared the news with Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, who said “that’s absolutely fantastic”.

“That’s excellent,” she added. “And that’s what we want to see. We want to see the whole community supporting each other to get vaccinated.”
