ABC Radio celebrating International Women’s Day with all-female lineups

ABC Radio is celebrating International Women’s Day this Thursday March 8, with female presenters taking centre stage across the board.

All-women lineups will feature across Capital City Networks, Radio National and Radio Australian, while ABC Classic FM is set to play 24-hours of all female composers.

The second All-Star Debate features six prominent Australian women including a Walkley Award Winner, a stand-up comedian and a Real Housewife of Melbourne, and asks the question ‘Is Bold The New Beautiful?’ It will air nationally on Radio National at 7pm.

In the lead up to the day, the ABC has launched its new Fierce Girls Podcast, telling real life and inspirational stories of Australian girls and women. Stories will be read by Kate Miller-Heidke, Leigh Sales, Lisa Wilkinson and more.

On ABC Grandstand Australian Women’s Rugby Union and League representative Ruan Sims will join the commentary team for the NRL season opener.

triple j, Double J and triple j Unearthed will also join the celebration with ‘Girls To The Front’ which will see a full day of all female hosts, and music from women across the full day.

Double J is set to air a ‘Girls To The Front: Exchange’ special featuring Alex the Astronaut and Lindy Morrison, while Hack looks at the status of women in the music industry and The J Files goes over the career of Deborah Conway.
